Community Education
Building the Next Generation of Eastern Sierra Musicians
Sierra Music Cooperative exists because every young person in the Eastern Sierra deserves access to real music education — not just lessons, but the full creative experience of making, recording, and performing music.
Our programs are designed for students of all skill levels and backgrounds. No experience required. No expensive gear needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to show up.
Our Programs
Music Lessons
One-on-one and small group instruction in guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and voice. Our instructors are working musicians who bring real-world experience into every lesson. We meet students where they are — beginner or advanced — and build from there.
Recording & Production
Students learn the fundamentals of music production using professional tools — recording, mixing, arrangement, and sound design. This program gives young people skills that are valuable far beyond music, including technical literacy, attention to detail, and creative problem solving.
Live Performance
There's no substitute for performing in front of an audience. We provide structured opportunities for students to rehearse, prepare, and perform at community events and showcases. This builds confidence, stage presence, and the ability to work as part of a team.
Instruments & Studio Access
We know that access to instruments and equipment is one of the biggest barriers to music education in rural communities. The Co-op provides access to instruments, gear, and studio time so that cost is never the reason a student can't participate.
Why it Matters
In a rural community like the Eastern Sierra, arts programming is often the first thing cut and the last thing funded. Sierra Music Cooperative fills that gap — giving young people a creative outlet, a skill set, and a community they can belong to.
Your support makes these programs possible. Every donation goes directly toward instruments, equipment, instruction, and keeping participation free for students who need it.
Get Involved today!
Share your passion. Teach the next generation. Make music with our community.
Sierra Music Cooperative is looking for musicians, producers, engineers, and builders who want to give back. Volunteer to teach kids hands-on classes in music performance, recording, production, and stage set building. No formal teaching experience required, just a love for your craft and a willingness to share it.
Not into teaching? That’s okay too. The Co-op is a place for local musicians to connect, collaborate, and perform in a supportive, creative environment. Whether you’re looking for a band, a jam session, or just a room full of people who get it. There’s a place for you here.
